Safety Harbor Businesses Partner With Fire Department To Provide CPR
Businesses decided to offer the CPR classes after the sudden death of Safety Harbor restaurant owner Louis Kinney at the age of 42.

SAFETY HARBOR, FL β Safety Harborβs downtown business community is partnering with the Safety Harbor Fire Department to provide CPR certification to employees.
In a medical emergency, such as a cardiac arrest, if someone assists with opening airways and pumping the heart, it substantially increases the chances of survival. The Safety Harbor community experienced this first-hand in December when Louis Kinney, owner of the Whistle Stop Bar & Grill died at the age of 42 following an accident at work. Kinney left behind a wife and two children.
The hospitality industry in Safety Harbor experiences more foot traffic on a weekly basis than any other industry in town. So, the local business community is stepping up to help prevent unnecessary tragedy, said Chris Wicks, owner of Daydreamers CafΓ© & Grill.

Wicks worked with Scott Long from Quoz Creative, the city of Safety Harbor and the Safety Harbor Fire Department to set up two CPR certification classes with the hope that each Safety Harbor business will have at least one employee attend the certification.
During the classes, participants will learn infant CPR, child CPR, adult CPR, choking/Heimlich Maneuver and how to use an AED (automatic external defibrillator.)
