More than a dozen entrants will vie for the golden spoon on Sunday.
For three straight years, the folks at OGOSH have organized a benefit for the Safety Harbor Historical Museum.
And for the second straight year, the soup cook off will be held at the 8th Avenue Pub, although this time it will beneift the new Museum and Cultural Center.
Organizers are expecting a large turnout for the event, which will feature a wide variety of soups from at least 15 area restaurants as well as local chefs and individuals.

“This is our third year doing it, and we usually end up with a few hundred people showing up,” organizer Janene Smith said. “People really love this type of event.”
For a $10.00 fee guests will receive a wristband allowing them to sample each entry, plus one vote. At the end of the event, which runs from 1 p.m. till 6 p.m., gold, silver and bronze spoons will be awarded to the top three vote getters.

This year all the proceeds go to the recently remodeled and re-purposed Museum and Cultural Center, and patrons are also encouraged to bring cans of soup, which will be donated to the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center.
“In the past we’ve had some customers enter who really consider themselves foodies,” Pub owner Mike Kelly said. “They really look forward to this.”
With the temperatures dropping this weekend and touch of winter in the air, Smith says the conditions are prime for a soup cook off.
“We encourage everybody to come out and support this event. It’s going to be ‘souper’ weather!”
