NAPLES, FL — A 9-acre luxury compound in Naples has hit the market for $295 million, making it the most expensive home active listing in the United States, Coldwell Banker’s Global Luxury program wrote in a Facebook post.

This record-breaking price tag breaks down to about $13,000 per square foot for the 22,800-square-foot, six-bedroom and 24-bathroom estate, according to the real estate company’s listing for Gordon Pointe, a private oasis in the exclusive Port Royal neighborhood.

This would shatter the record for the most expensive real estate sale ever in the U.S., which was previously set in 2019 by hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, who bought a Manhattan penthouse for $240 million, Mansion Global said.

The property dates back to the 1980s, when it was built by financier John Donahue, according to The Wall Street Journal. He paid $1 million for the parcel, which became a family retreat, in 1985.

He and his wife, Rhodora, have since died, and the compound has been put on the market by the family, reports said.
