5 Things: G. WIZ Rallying Supporters For Meeting

1. The Sarasota City Commission has penciled in a chat about the lease of G. WIZ: The Science Museum at its Monday evening commission meeting, and the museum is rallying supporters of Facebook to show up Monday after commissioners had openly spoke about potentially moving the museum one day after their lease is up to an inland location. The commissioner comments were made with the idea that a , but all of this could hit a snag as the deed to that vacant lot has a restriction and never to be sold or exchanged. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at 

2. It's possible that the pungent smoke smell you that offended your senses in Sarasota Thursday could return again this morning. Visibility could also be an issue at area airports and roads. Northern winds are expected to carry smoke into the greater Tampa Bay region from the wildfire in Osceola National Forest, which is on the Georgia/Florida state line west of Jacksonville. If you have breathing related issues, you'll probably want to take precautions, like having an inhaler nearby or that oxygen tank handy. If you are considered healthy, deal with it, but do tell us how stinky it is in the comments.

3. The Junior League of Sarasota is celebrating all that is food at the  this weekend at G. Wiz. The kick-off is tonight and costs $25. The festival itself is free, but there are special events, including a dream kitchen tour, a beer tasting and other events at $75 each.

4. Sarasota Patch has partnered with some local organizations for the Give-A-Ton Food Drive.
