Country music star Kevin Welch will perform at a show to benefit WSLR June 8.

1. Country music star Kevin Welch will perform at a show to benefit next week.

Welch moved to Nashville in 1978 to work as a songwriter.  Singers like Ricky Skaggs, Moe Bandy, Waylon Jennings, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Don Williams have used his material. Welch will perform Friday, June 8 at 525 Kumquat Court. Tickets are $12 in advance/$15 at the door.

Sarasota County will have its annual community cleanup in the area of Proctor and Wilkinson roads from 8 a.m.to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9.

Dumpsters will be available at two Sarasota locations for materials from residents:

• Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI), 4748 Beneva Road at the intersection of Proctor Road, in the south parking lot.

• Bee Ridge Park in the softball field parking lot west of Lockwood Ridge Road on Wilkinson Road.
