A national campaign called Click It or Ticket aims to crack down on drivers not wearing set belts starts today.

Today starts the Click It or Ticket campaign that runs through June 3 where officers nationwide will crack down on people not wearing seatbelts.
“While Florida reached a record high last year for safety belt use, we still see many drivers and passengers who fail to buckle up. All too often it ends in tragedy,” said FHP Director, Col. David Brierton in a news release. “One of our goals is to save lives through education and enforcement campaigns such as Click it or Ticket.”

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics show that in 2010 alone, safety belts saved an estimated 12,546 lives nationwide.
Florida law requires all drivers and occupants in the front seat of a vehicle to fasten their safety belts.
