5 Things To Know: Protests Planned For Gov. Scott
Gov. Rick Scott will be at the Longboat Key Club for an Argus Foundation luncheon.
1. You can safely bet that when there's an appearance by Gov. Rick Scott, there will probably be some sort of protest. Friday is no different.
As Gov. Rick Scott will talk at the Argus Foundation luncheon at the Longboat Key Club, Occupy Sarasota will protest Scott's voter roll purge attempts. The protest will take place at 11 a.m. on the New Pass Bridge, connecting Lido and Longboat keys.
2. Congrats to graduate Eric Prah for winning a 2012 Student Academy Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
Prah, a 2012 computer animation graduate won for his animated film ‘My Little Friend.' It will be revealed if Eric has won a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award at the 39th Annual Student Academy Awards ceremony on Saturday

Prah is from Plainfield, New Jersey, and will begin working at Blue Sky Studios this month.
3. About 150 craft vendors will take over St. Armands Circle Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It's also accompanied by a sidewalk sale from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

4. The Running Water 5K will start at 7 a.m. Saturday on Siesta Key Beach. You can register today at www.questsm.com/runningwater or www.active.com. Proceeds help bring clean water to indigenous people in Costa Rica. Cost to register is $30.
