
District 1 City Commissioner Willie Shaw will host a community forum at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Pines of Sarasota, 1501 North Orange Avenue.
Shaw will provide an update on initiatives occurring within District 1 and answer constituent questions. Residents, business owners and District 1 stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
Discussion topics include:

Shaw has served as the District 1 City Commissioner since May 2011. He represents the City Commission on the Juvenile Justice Council of the Department of Justice/Juvenile Assessment Center Advisory Committee, Enterprise Zone Redevelopment Agency, the Sarasota County Community Action Agency Board and the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council.
The boundaries of District 1 roughly are University Parkway to the north; Fruitville Road to the south; N. Tamiami Trail to the west and Tuttle Avenue to the east.
