It’s time to clean out the garage and gather up yard waste. Sarasota County will hold its annual community cleanup in the Newtown and Beverly Terrace area from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. Dumpsters will be provided at three locations.
Residents can bring their waste to the following Sarasota locations:
- Newtown Estates Park and Martin Luther King Jr. Way
- 44th Street and Lockwood Ridge Road
- 23rd Street and Chester Avenue
Residents can dispose of any non-hazardous waste such as household items, scrap material, unbundled yard waste and other material during this free event. Sarasota County employees will be available at each site to offer assistance.

Paint, pesticides, auto parts, televisions, computers and other hazardous materials will not be accepted. Hazardous waste may be taken to Sarasota County’s chemical collection centers at the Central County Solid Waste Landfill Facility, 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis; the north county center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota; and the south county center at 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice.
