Inspired by the rich heritage that Sarasota shares with John Ringling and the circus, The Sarasota Ballet has created a circus-themed production of the classic holiday favorite The Nutcracker. Following Hoffmann’s memorable storyline, and using the traditional Tchaikovsky score, the John Ringling’s Circus Nutcracker makes its world premiere this Friday.
Set to live music, performed by the Sarasota Orchestra, John Ringling’s Circus Nutcracker will be performed at Sarasota’s Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall for a total of six performances.
“This world-premiere is an exciting project for me because it’s The Ballet’s way of giving back,” said Ian Webb, Director of the Sarasota Ballet. “It is our way of saying thank you to the many supporters that have stood by us. It’s the perfect holiday present.”
