SHS Singing Sailors Masquerade Concert Is Saturday

The fifth annual Singing Sailors Spring Cabaret and Silent Auction will be Saturday, May 12, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 2985 Bethel Lane in Sarasota. The theme is a masquerade titled “Paper Faces on Parade.”  Audience members are invited to come in costume or wear a mask.

The Singing Sailors are scheduled to perform selections from “Mary Poppins,” “Seasons of Love” from “Rent,” and “The Phantom of the Opera.”  The SHS Chamber Choir will perform “Cabaret,” “Jump, Jive and Wail” and “When I Fall in Love.”

The evening’s activities also will include light refreshments, gourmet desserts and a silent auction.

The event is a fundraiser to support SHS Choral Department operating expenses that are not covered by school district funding, including accompanists, uniforms and supplemental transportation.  The funds also will be used to defray expenses for students who otherwise could not afford to participate in the choral program.

Tickets are $10 for students and teachers, $15 advance general admission, $18 general admission at the door and $12 each general admission for groups of 10 or more.

Tickets may be purchased from any Singing Sailor or SHS Chorus Booster Club member. They also may be ordered from Chorus Director Kirby Sanders at 941-955-0181, ext 64599 or can be purchased at the door.

Advance purchases can be made with cash or check. Credit cards can be used at the door.
