This prestigious award is being presented to Sen. Amber Hughes, a Florida League of Cities lobbyist, will present the award to Bennett.

Florida League of Cities Legislative Director Scott Dudley stated, “Senator Mike Bennett is definitely deserving of this award, not just for his support of the Florida League of Cities this legislative session but during his tenure as a state Senator. I’m so proud that we are able to honor him on behalf of Florida’s 410 cities and the thousands of municipal officials, elected and unelected. He is a passionate supporter of home rule and believes that the level of government closest to the people should make the decisions that affect the quality of life of the citizens they have been elected to represent. Thanks so much to Senator Mike Bennett.”

Mike Bennett was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2000 and elected to the Florida Senate in 2002, and was President Pro Tempore from 2010-2012. He was a member of the Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council from 2004-2006, a Community Health Purchasing Alliance Board Member and a Suncoast Workforce Development Board Member.
