
SARASOTA –Suncoast School for Innovative Studies will celebrate its annual Fall Festival and Parent Empowerment Day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday (Oct. 27). The free public event will be held at the charter school’s elementary campus at 845 S. School Ave., Sarasota.
This year’s festival will offer several activities for kids: games, arts and crafts, face painting, music and food. Parents can meet representatives from a number of family and community support agencies, including the Citizen Dispute Settlement Program, Jewish Family and Children's Services of Sarasota-Manatee, the Sarasota County Health Department, SSIS Girl Scout Chapter Recruitment, Selby Public Library and the Sarasota Community Blood Bank.
“Parent Empowerment Day is all about helping our parents achieve a greater awareness of the support systems within our community,” said SSIS School Counselor Ann Tilman.

Stephen Evans, executive director of SSIS, said, “In today’s economy some of our parents are having a hard time. We believe we should all help each other during these times. Fortunately Sarasota County has a wealth of caring individuals who are eager to assist our community, families and students.”
