TPC Prestancia raised $40,000 to benefit Birdies for the Brave during a November 11th, 2011, event. The charity provides much needed support to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families and is a primary element of Heritage Golf Group’s philanthropic endeavors.
The event held at TPC Prestancia hosted a full field of 160 golfers on a picture perfect Veteran’s Day. Golfers were welcomed during Opening Ceremonies by a lone bagpiper and each four-some of golfers was joined by an active duty military member; many of whom are stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. Their participation brought modern-day, real-life military stories to life through the round of golf. A dinner and awards presentation followed tournament play, including a presentation by local resident Scott Bill who lost his son in the Navy SEAL Team 6 accident in August 2011.
This year’s event marked TPC Prestancia’s 7th annual Birdies for the Brave tournament and raised a record setting donation by the Club of more than $40,000. During the span of seven years and seven hosted charity golf tournaments, the Club has raised more than $100,000 in support of Birdies for the Brave.

“TPC Prestancia is honored to be able to contribute to Birdies for the Brave once again this year,” said Bob Holzman, General Manager of TPC Prestancia. “The success of this event would not be possible without the support of our membership, sponsors and local community. Our contribution is just one way that we can show appreciation and gratitude for our men and women in uniform and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis.”
TPC Prestancia is one of nine Heritage Golf Group properties to host Birdies for the Brave fundraisers this year. From 2008-2010, the Heritage Collection of Clubs donated more than $1.4 million to Birdies for the Brave.
