Bomb Threat at Sarasota IRS Building

At 11:45 this morning Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a bomb threat at the Internal Revenue Service building located at 5971 Cattleridge Blvd.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a subject entered the building and stated that he had a bomb. Upon arrival of deputies, the subject was taken into custody without incident, a release said.

The Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad arrived on scene to evaluate the suspicious package. According to the Sheriff's Office, no destructive devices were found and the building was handed over to US Protective Services.

The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released when it is available.
