FL Man Killed In Sarasota County Crash

Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A Bradenton man died Saturday morning in a single-car crash in Sarasota County, according to state police.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of Northgate Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

According to police, a BMW was traveling west on Northgate Boulevard near Independence Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. Police said the car spun 90 degrees before it jumped the curb and hit a tree.

Three people were in the car when the crash occurred, police said. The driver and front-seat passenger — both 21-year-old men from Bradenton — suffered minor injuries.

The rear passenger, also 21 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
