Brush Fire Under Control: Cattlemen Road Reopens
Motorists are being asked to steer clear of a section of Cattlemen Road Thursday afternoon.
SARASOTA, FL — Within minutes of announcing a closing of Cattlemen Road lanes Thursday afternoon, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reported that traffic was being allowed to go through. The brush fire that prompted the closing in the road's 800 block had been brought under control, officials said.
"Emergency vehicles are still in the area and the fire is under control," Lt. Vincent Mayer of the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media just before 2:27 p.m. Feb. 16.
Details about the fire are not yet available. The closing of the north- and southbound lanes had been announced just before 2:15 p.m.
