Christian School Sends 3 Teams To Odyssey Finals
Sarasota Christian School's three teams will travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals.
Three teams from will be off to Ames, Iowa later this month to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals.
Odyssey is a competition where students from kindergarten through college have to use problem solving skils to present a solution, whether it's mechanical or interpretation on literary classic.
Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

The school touts that it is sending the most teams to the world finals of any school in Florida.
The following teams placed first in their problem and division at the state finals and will move on:

• 6th grade
• 7th grade
• 9th grade
The ninth grade team also received the most prestigious award called the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award. It represents the essence of Odyssey of the Mind. It is presented to teams or individuals who exhibit exceptional creativity and is a way to acknowledge and encourage creative thinking and risk-taking.
This year Sarasota Christian School had a record number of participants in Odyssey. Fifty-two students participated, making up eight teams coached by 17 parents. The teams prepare all year for the Regional Competition in March. Five teams advanced to the State Competition in April. Three of those five teams earned first place in their problem and division at States advancing them to the World Competition to be held in late May.
The World Finals are at Iowa State University from May 23 to 26.
