SARASOTA, FL — A contemporary waterfront home with an award-winning design in Sarasota’s coveted Lido Shores neighborhood, which was developed in the early 1950s to showcase modernist architecture, sold Wednesday for $7,475,000, according to a news release from Michael Saunders & Company.

The home went under contract immediately after hitting the market and sold for 99.7 percent of the list price, the real estate company said.

The 5,039-square-foot residence at 1247 Westway Drive, designed by acclaimed Sarasota architect Guy Peterson, features awe-inspiring water views and an imaginative design with hidden interior courtyards, multiple terraces, and an expansive open floorplan. The distinctive residence’s design has been recognized with awards from the American Institute of Architects.

Georgina Clamage and Mary Pat Radford of Michael Saunders & Company represented the seller, who, along with her husband, were original owners of the home built for them in 2001. Klaus Lang, also an agent with Michael Saunders & Company, represented the out-of-state buyers. All three agents work out of the Main Street office.

“As fans of the Sarasota School of Architecture and Guy Peterson, we were honored to market this exceptional home,” Clamage said. “The exquisite detail and unique qualities in the home speak to its extraordinary and timeless beauty.”

An 8-foot-high privacy wall around most of the property is a key aspect of the architectural plan’s multiple outdoor spaces, including a front courtyard with a pool surrounded by tropical landscaping and a 924-square-foot second-floor terrace overlooking the pool and a serene courtyard.

A 90-foot-long gallery lined with 8-foot-high windows flows into the great room, where walls of glass showcase views of New Pass and the Gulf of Mexico, the company said.

Another highlight is the living room with two-story ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows with millwork, and glass doors to both the poolside patio and waterfront terrace.

The property also has a seawall and dock and offers direct access to the nearby Gulf and Sarasota Bay, according to the real estate company.
