Update: County 911 Service Restored

UPDATE: The county's 911 service has now restored the ability to receive calls from landline phones.

EARLIER: The Sarasota County 911 Center is currently experiencing problems with landline phones, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

In the event of an emergency, people should use a cell phone to call 911.

The phone company is working toward a resolution at this time, according to the sheriff's office.

Cell phones do not automatically provide a location, so the sheriff's office reminds folks to be aware of where you are calling from when dialing 911.
