Donald Trump Announces 4 Florida Rallies

The Republican presidential hopeful is working to secure a win in the Sunshine State with four rallies on his schedule this week.

MIAMI, FL — As Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump shoots ahead in Florida polls as Election Day nears, the New York businessman is working to secure the state’s crucial 29 electoral votes. He’s announced four rallies in Florida as the week continues.

Trump’s polling numbers have shot up since Friday when FBI Director James Comey announced his agency had discovered new emails related to the investigation of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s private email server. Comey’s vague letter to Congressional leaders has been the subject of heavy criticism since news of its existence hit. The bombshell was dropped just 11 days before the Nov. 8 presidential election.

The FBI has known about the new batch of emails related to its investigation of Hillary Clinton for weeks, CNN is reporting. The emails in question don't belong to Clinton herself but to one of her closest aides, Huma Abedin. Abedin's emails were discovered on a computer belonging to Anthony Weiner, the disgraced former Congressman from New York.

That information, though, was not made clear in Comey's letter to Congress announcing the new developments, which didn't say who the emails belonged to, how the FBI found them or in what "unrelated case" the emails were found.

Clinton’s polling numbers have gone into a downward spiral since Comey’s announcement. On Friday, Hillary Clinton led Republican challenger Donald Trump by 4.6 percentage points in national polls, according to RealClear Politics. By Monday, that lead had dwindled to 2.5 percentage points. As of Tuesday morning, her lead was just 2.2 points.

Clinton’s once healthy lead in the Sunshine State has also evaporated. As of Tuesday, Trump led the statewide polling average by 1 percentage point.

Trump has also faced his share of controversy in recent weeks. His numbers in national polls dropped sharply following the three presidential debates and the release of a video that showed him making lewd comments about women. Although the video was about a decade old, the New York businessman has also been fending off allegations from women who say he touched them inappropriately.

Most recently, information surfaced that the FBI was looking at a possible financial connection between Trump and Russia. News broke Monday night, however, that no clear link has been found, according to the New York Times.

With Election Day just a week away, both Trump and Clinton have heavy rally schedules planned. Clinton was making three appearances in Florida on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Trump’s attention will turn to the Sunshine State starting Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Trump has scheduled the following rallies:

  • Miami – Nov. 2 at Bayfront Park Amphitheater, noon
  • Orlando – Nov. 2 at Central Florida Fairgrounds, 4 p.m.
  • Pensacola – Nov. 2 at Maritime Park’s Hunter Amphitheater, 7 p.m.
  • Jacksonville – Nov. 3 at Jacksonville Equestrian Center at noon

Free tickets for the Florida events are available on Trump’s campaign website.
