What’s Open, Closed For New Year’s Day 2026 In Sarasota
Here are some closures and schedule changes for some Sarasota government offices, facilities and services on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day.
SARASOTA, FL — With many St. Petersburg residents celebrating New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services over the holiday.
Sarasota City Hall and Administrative Offices: Closed Thursday.
Sarasota Solid Waste and Recycling Collection: There are no changes to Wednesday’s collection. Thursday’s pick-up will happen on Friday and Friday’s scheduled collection will happen on Saturday.

Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources: All locations will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources: All locations will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex: Closed Thursday.
Lido Pool: Closed Thursday.
Payne Park Tennis Center: Closed Thursday.
Robert L. Taylor Community Complex: Closed Thursday.
Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall: Closed Thursday.
Florida Department of Health in Sarasota: Closed Thursday and Friday.
Sarasota County Schools and District Offices: Schools closed through Jan. 4. Monday is a staff professional day and students return to the classroom on Tuesday.
Breeze Transit: The 77 Siesta Islander and Breeze OnDemand will operate extended hours on New Year’s Eve until 1 a.m. On New Year’s Day, Breeze routes, Breeze Plus, and transit administration and ticket outlets will be closed. The 77 Siesta Islander and Breeze OnDemand will operate Thursday on modified hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
