For one-time only, the Downtown Farmers Market will be held during a weekday later this month, Thursday, December 23, closing Lemon Avenue and requiring the removal of all parked vehicles on the street. The market will be open 7am – 1 pm, according to a city press release.
While the market will be open at 7am, all vehicles will have to be removed from Lemon Avenue from First Street to Pineapple Avenue by 4am. Portions of State Street on either side of Lemon Avenue also will be closed. Lemon Avenue is scheduled to reopen to all traffic by 2:30pm.
According to the press release, due to Christmas falling on a Saturday, when the Farmers Market is held, the City of Sarasota approved a request by the Farmers Market to hold the market two days earlier to accommodate holiday shoppers.
