DUI Wolfpack to Prowl Sarasota, Bradenton This Weekend

Breaking: The Florida Highway Patrol has announced a DUI Wolfpack detail for the upcoming weekend.

SARASOTA, FL — Sarasota and Bradenton area residents and visitors with big party plans Friday may want to designate a driver in advance. The Florida Highway Patrol’s North District has announced a DUI Wolfpack detail for Friday.

According to the patrol, troopers will hit the road around 9 p.m. Oct. 28. Troopers assigned to the special detail will remain on the prowl until 5 a.m. Saturday. The operation will focus on Interstate 75 and other major roads in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Highlands, Hardee and Desoto counties are also included in the detail.

FHP conducts DUI Wolfpack details periodically to “remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,” a media release from the agency said. “Troopers conducting the detail will be mobile, monitoring traffic, in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness.”

A motorist is considered impaired in Florida when blood alcohol content is .08 or higher. Drivers under the age of 21 are considered impaired with a BAC of .02 or higher.
