FDOT To Add 2 More Crosswalks on Siesta Key

Midnight Pass Road will see two more crosswalks added on Siesta Key after a Florida Department of Transportation study was completed this month.

The two crosswalks will be placed at  and /Wells Fargo areas on Midnight Pass Road, the department announced Friday afternoon in a press release. The additional locations were recommended by local residents, the department stated.

The decision comes after residents are , .

The department said the additions are in response to the public, pedestrian crossing studies, engineering anaylsis and field observations. The additional pedestrian counts were complted this month.

The original locations are near /, /, , and . The six crosswalks will also include flashing beacons signs on each side of the road, according to FDOT.

In May, the department will look to hire a contractor to complete the work, but a schedule for the work has not been announced.
