FHP Investigating Cause of Fatal Crash

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a single-vehicle fatal crash today that killed a Sarasota man.

Agusto Campos Alberto, 25, of Sarasota was driving on U.S. 301 South at 3:15 a.m. today in Manatee County near Whitfield Avenue when his 2004 Chevrolet pick-up truck approached the median, spun, and overturned, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Alberto was partially ejected from the truck and when the truck came to a rest, it landed on top of Alberto, according to Highway Patrol, and he died at the scene.

Highway Patrol said he was not wearing a seatbelt. Investigation of alcohol use is pending an examination by the medical examiner.
