FL’s Best Hospitals For 2023: See Full List

FLORIDA — Throughout 2023, several data-based national rankings and safety grades helped Florida residents navigate the labyrinth of health care, and make decisions about the best places to have a baby, surgery or take care of other medical issues.

Here’s a review of how Florida stacked up in analyses and rankings from various publications, government agencies and a health care watchdog group:

U.S. News & World Report’s respected rankings included looks at the best maternity, children’s and overall hospitals in Florida.

The publication also released reports to help guide older Florida residents in their decisions about health care.

The watchdog Leapfrog Group’s twice-a-year safety grades use both data and patient surveys to measure Florida hospitals’ records on patient safety, infection rates and other patient experiences.

Healthgrades, which maintains a comprehensive database of ratings and comparisons for physicians, hospitals and health care providers, also released ratings on hospitals in Florida and others.

Eleven hospitals and medical centers were given 5-star ratings, the best possible, by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
