FL School Bus Crashes Into Stop Sign Damaged In Hurricane: Sheriff

A driver, a student and a school board employee were on the bus at the time of the crash, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said.

NOKOMIS, FL — A school bus crashed into a stop sign that was damaged during Hurricane Milton on Thursday morning in Nokomis, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. as the bus, which was traveling north on Aquila Street, turned left onto Adriatic Street.

The bus hit a stop sign that was damaged during Milton and leaned into the road, the sheriff’s office said. Six windows were damaged as the bus made the turn.

There were two passengers — a school board employee and a student — on the bus at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver and passengers weren’t injured. The student’s parent was told about the crash.
