Florida Reports One-Day Spike Of 10,044 Coronavirus Cases

Florida health officials reported one of the highest one-day spikes since the pandemic began with 10,044 new cases of the coronavirus.

MIAMI, FL — Florida health officials reported 10,044 new cases of the coronavirus Wednesday, one of the highest one-day spikes since the pandemic began.

But the spike falls short of Florida's record for the most one-day cases, which was set on the Fourth of July with 11,458 new cases of the virus.

The spike comes as Federal prosecutors in Miami accused a Bradenton man and his three sons of making and selling thousands of bottles of a toxic bleach as a cure for the coronavirus and other illnesses.

Miami-area restaurants will be forced to limit service to outdoor dining starting Thursday as one measure to control the spread of the deadly virus in Florida's hardest hit county. Other businesses in Miami-Dade, such as banquet halls, must shut down completely.

Mayor Dale Holness of nearby Broward County announced Wednesday his county will not close restaurants but will limit tables to six people and close indoor dining rooms at 10 p.m. He also said he will allow vacation rentals to continue but guests will not be permitted to visit rentals.
