Florida's Coronavirus Count Continues To Tick Upward
Florida health officials reported 1,758 new coronavirus cases Monday after two straight days where new cases exceeded 2,000 in a single day.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida health officials reported 1,758 new coronavirus cases Monday after two straight days where new cases exceeded 2,000 in a single 24-hour period.
Six Florida counties reported eight new deaths Monday over the previous 24-hour period. That compares to six new deaths Sunday, 48 new deaths Saturday, 30 news deaths Friday, 47 new deaths Thursday, 36 on Wednesday, 54 new deaths Tuesday and 12 last Monday.
Health officials reported 73 new hospitalizations from the coronavirus across Florida over the previous 24-hour period.

The total number of cases climbed to 77,326 from 75,568, a day earlier. The state's death toll rose to 2,938 from 2,931 a day earlier.

Miami-Dade reported one new death Monday. Broward County reported one new death. Palm Beach County reported three new deaths.
Indian River County reported one new death as did Polk County and Volusia County.
Miami-Dade reported 22,197 cases of the virus Monday. Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 9,086 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes West Palm Beach, reported 9,015 cases.
Florida had a 5.4 percent positive test rate for the virus based on a total of 1,431,164 tests that had been administered as of Monday. The number of hospitalizations in Florida increased to 12,015 from 11,942 a day earlier.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 3,826 cases. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 3,282 cases.
