Gas Leak Shuts Down Area In Downtown Sarasota: Police

SARASOTA, FL — An area in downtown Sarasota was shut down Wednesday afternoon because of a gas leak, officials said.

The 500 block of Kumquat Court between Fourth Street and Boulevard of the Arts was evacuated, the Sarasota Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Officers are assisting Sarasota County Emergency Services with traffic control during the response to the gas leak.

It's unknown when the area will reopen.
