House Speaker Boehner Fundraising in Sarasota

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner (R) will appear Saturday in Sarasota for a fundraiser with Rep. Vern Buchannen.

The fundraiser will take place at the Githler Residence
, 374 South Shore Drive
, according to the Republican Party of Sarasota County, and will benefit Boehner's fundraising committee.

VIP Reception starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by a General Reception from 6:30 p.m. to 
5:30 p.m.

A VIP Photo Reception costs $10,000 per couple and $5,000 per person.

Other fundraising costs include:

• Co-Chairs: $10,000 per couple/$5,000 per person

• 
Host  Committee: $5,000 per couple/$2,500 per person

• 6:30 p.m. 
Boehner for Speaker General Reception:
$1,000 per couple/$500 per person

The New-York Times says the pairing should be interesting given Buchanan's recent national attention for being accused of ethics violations:

"In terms of political symbolism, the planned appearance amounts to something of a vote of confidence from the House speaker for Mr. Buchanan. Mr. Buchanan oversees fundraising operations for the National Republican Congressional Committee, which has seen donations spike as Republicans seek to hold on to control of the House.

Mr. Buchanan, who is one of the richest members of Congress and is in his third term, has been accused by a number of former employees and executives in his auto businesses of using corporate funds to reimburse political donations to his campaigns and engaging in tax violations."
