I-75 Reopens After Fog/Smoke Closure

Interstate 75 has reopened after being diverted Thursday night and Friday morning at Clark Road and Laurel Road due to heavy smoke and fog.

All lanes of Interstate 75 have reopened at 8:27 a.m. in Sarasota County following a closure since Thursday night due to smoke and fog caused by a nearby controlled burn by the Florida Forest Service.

Florida Highway Patrol closed the interstate in both directions in Sarasota due to heavy smoke and fog in the area of the 200 mile marker shortly before midnight.

Southbound traffic was diverted off the interstate at Exit 205 (Clark Road) and northbound traffic is being diverted at the Jacaranda Boulevard exit near Venice.
