Former NFL Player Opening The Peach Cobbler Factory In Bradenton

A former NFL player is opening a new eatery in Bradenton this month.

Michael Lehan will open the doors to The Peach Cobbler Factory, 629 Cortez Road W., on Saturday, according to a news release. Raffle prizes will be given away throughout the grand opening event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day.

The dessert restaurant, a national chain, offers various signature treats, including cobblers, cookies, banana puddings, cobbler cookies, Pudd-N shakes, brownies, cinnamon rolls, churro stix and Belgium waffles.

Toasted Yolk Opens Second Sarasota Location

The Toasted Yolk Cafe opened its fifth Florida location — and its second in the Sarasota area — on Monday, according to a news release.

The new eatery brings its breakfast and brunch offerings to the Lakewood Ranch community at 6562 University Parkway, Suite 150.

“Guests can enjoy a one-of-a-kind breakfast, lunch and brunch experience with delectable brunch favorites like the Shrimp N' Grits as well as The Toasted Yolk's famous, boozy morning cocktails from the brand's full bar,” the news release said.

The Sarasota cafe is owned and operated by the brand's cofounders, Chris and Kelly Milton, through CKYOLK, LLC. They also own the other Sarasota location, as well as one in Bradenton.

Portillo’s Eyeing Move into Manatee County

Portillo’s, a Chicago-area hot dog chain, appears to be making a move into Manatee County.

The brand filed a preliminary site plan for a proposed restaurant in the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour plaza, which is near State Road 64 East and Grand Harbour Parkway, the Bradenton Herald reported.

This would be Portillo’s ninth location in Florida.

Downtown Sarasota Restaurant Announces Sudden Closure

MADE, which was located at 1990 Main Street in downtown Sarasota for 12 years, announced its sudden closure in a Facebook post at the end of December.

The restaurant’s owners posted about its closure on Dec. 29 - the same day it permanently shut its doors.

“This decision has not been made lightly, and we deeply regret the impact it will have on our loyal customers, dedicated team members, and our outstanding suppliers/partners. We want to express our sincerest gratitude for over a decade of patronage and support. It has been our highest honor to share our love of food and hospitality with this community, and it has been a privilege to play a part in your lives,” they wrote. “We understand this news may come as a shock to some, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. We genuinely appreciate your understanding and grace during this difficult time.”

Sarasota's Only Dog Bar Closing

Sarasota’s only dog bar will close its doors for good on Sunday.

On its final day, Boo’s Ice House & Dog Bar, which is in the Rosemary District, will celebrate National Dress Up Your Pet Day, according to its Facebook page.

Owners are encouraged to dress up their pups in cute costumes from 2 to 5 p.m. Tiny Tails Couture and the LapDog Depot will be set up during this time. There will also be music by Sabrina McClenithan.
