Man Assaulted With Gun in McDonald's Parking Lot

A suspect struck a man in the head with a gun during an attempted robbery in a north Sarasota McDonald's parking lot.

A man who attempted to rob a man in a north Sarasota parking lot Friday fled the scene and police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to step forward.

The victim, Lloyd Eldridge was getting into a car at McDonald's, 4301 N. Washington Blvd., around 11:08 p.m. Friday when the suspect pushed him up against the car and threatened him with a silver revolver, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

As Eldridge attempted to pull away, he was struck in the head with the gun which discharged, firing one shot which did not strike anyone, according to the sheriff's office. Eldridge didn't need medical treatment.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot and was chased by Sarasota Police Department officers, who could not find him after an extensive search. 

The suspect is described as a six-foot-tall black man with a thin build, short dreads, wearing a black shirt and pants.

The investigation was turned over to The Criminal Investigations Section.
