Sarasota Man Molested Girl in Early 2000s, Detectives Say
The man was confronted by his alleged victim, who is now an adult but was 7 and 8 at the time, according to Sarasota Police.
A Sarasota man is accused of molesting a girl more than a decade ago when she was 7 and 8 years old, police said Thursday.
Vennie Del Singleton, 62, is charged with felony lewd and lascivious molestation following incidents that occurred between 2000 and 2002.
He was arrested Tuesday after Sarasota Police say he apologized over the phone to his victim, who is now an adult.

Investigators who listened to the phone call say the victim confronted Del Singleton, who "never denied the allegations and apologized profusely," according to an arrest affidavit.
