Man Killed While Changing Tire On Interstate 75: FL Highway Patrol

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A 27-year-old North Port man was hit and killed by a car while changing a tire on the side of Interstate 75 Monday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The crash happened just after 4 a.m. south of River Road.

A car driving south in the left lane of I-75 hit the man, who was crossing the road from the left paved shoulder and moved directly into its path, FHP said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Sarasota County EMS.

The driver, a 21-year-old Tampa man, was uninjured in the crash, which is being investigated by FHP’s traffic homicide unit.
