Man Swiped Keys at YMCA to Break Into Cars, Detectives Say
Instead of working out, Peter Strohminger twice visited the Potter Park YMCA's weight room to snatch patrons' keys, according to detectives.

A Sarasota man is accused of swiping keys from the key rack of a YMCA weight room and using them to break into cars in the parking lot, according to authorities.
Detectives say Peter Strohminger, 24, checked in at the front desk of the Potter Park YMCA on June 4 and again on June 6. But instead of working out, both times he allegedly took a set of keys and headed outside.
In the first instance, he broke into a car and stole several items from a victim's purse, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

At the time of his arrest, Strohminger was out of jail on bond from a February arrest in which he was charged with five cases of dealing in stolen property and providing false ownership information to a pawn dealer, according to sheriff's office spokesperson Wendy Rose.
The YMCA has since moved its key rack to a secure place behind the desk, Rose said in an email.
