Memorial Garden Planned at Pet Sanctuary

A memorial garden of Florida-friendly plants and "re-imagined" products will be created soon at Vintage Paws by the founders of a new business called Re-Scape.com.

Brenda Ellison, Dave Burns and Lisa Burns have launched Re-Scape.com, a business that focuses on using recycled and "re-imagined" products to enhance the natural surroundings.

The memorial garden planned at Vintage Paws is a good example. It will include a dog house, foot bridge and bench from re-purposed pallets and other recycled materials. Vintage Paws Sanctuary is located on the grounds of Ace Pet Resort in Sarasota.

In honor of Earth Day and the launch of Re-Scape.com, the team will be working together with two other local businesses to create a memorial garden for the local animal sanctuary, Vintage Paws.

On April 20th, from 10am-noon, there will be a hands-on class led by Backyard Getaway to install a dry creek bed and plant Florida-friendly (non toxic) plants in the new memorial garden.

Additional plans include a memorial brick patio. The public may purchase a brick in memorial of their lost pet and funds from the brick sales will benefit Vintage Paws. The public is invited to join in the celebration by volunteering to help install the project or simply coming out to watch.

Vintage Paws Sanctuary provides a loving environment for senior dogs whose owner’s have passed away or been placed in a nursing home; whose owner’s are unable to provide care to their dog due their own health issues or because of the pet’s health issues; or for dogs ineligible for long-term care at other shelters due to their age or medical conditions.
