Motorcyclist Dies, Hit Twice In 4-Vehicle Crash: Police

The man became separated from his motorcycle and was struck repeatedly during the crash, police said.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist is dead after striking a car and then being hit twice in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 75, according to highway patrol.

The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. Sunday near mile marker 180 in Sarasota County, police said.

The motorcyclist — a 25-year-old man from North Port — was traveling south when he struck a sedan from behind, became separated from his motorcycle and came to rest in the southbound lanes, where he was hit by a semitrailer and another sedan, according to police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the crash remains under investigation, police said.
