28 Year-Old Arrested For Newtown Murder
A Newtown shooting at 4 a.m. Friday killed 54-year-old Anthony Waters, who was the step-father of the suspect.

A 28-year-old Sarasota man is a facing second-degree murder charge after he had shot and killed his step-father, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Charles Dailey Jr., of 2652 26th St., had called 911 at 4 a.m. Friday to report that he had shot and killed his step-father Anthony Waters, 54, of 2863 Lockwood Meadows Blvd., the sheriff's office said.

After the shooting Dailey said he put the gun on the couch and waited with two family members for deputies to arrive, the sheriff's office said. Dailey had apparently told investigators that a brown handled-knife or other weapon would have been beside Waters body, but no weapon was located close to Waters body, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The sheriff's office did not release the motive for the shooting.

Dailey has been booked into the Sarasota County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.

Deputies responded to the 26th Street address to investigate a report of shots fired and found a victim fatally shot. Detectives, forensics and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded and are investigating.
