Newtown Shooting Leaves Man Injured

A man walked up to another man on a porch and shot him twice, according to Sarasota Police.

Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Newtown that left a man injured.

The 26-year-old victim was sitting on a porch in the 1700 block of Gregg Court in Sarasota around 2 a.m. Wednesday when another man walked up and shot him twice before fleeing, according to Sarasota Police.

The man was airlifted to a local hospital with injuries, officials said.

Officers and K-9 units searched the area but could not find the shooter, Sarasota Police spokesperson Genevieve Judge said in a media release.  He was last seen wearing all black and traveling northbound from the area, between houses.
