North Port’s Missing ‘Woobie’ Case Resolved

A good Samaritan stepped in to put the smile back on the face of a 2-year-old girl.

NORTH PORT, FL — North Port’s case of the missing “woobie” hasn’t exactly been solved, but it has been resolved. That’s thanks to a good Samaritan who stepped in to help.

The North Port Police Department issued an all-points bulletin for the missing blanket after the father of a 2-year-old girl put out a plea for help on Facebook. It seems Cheyanne McClain lost her “woobie,” at the city’s trick-or-treat event on Friday.

“The little girl was heartbroken after it went missing,” the police department explained on Facebook. While lots of people pitched in to look for the stuffed zebra/blanket hybrid, it has not been recovered. The smile on Cheyanne’s face, however, has returned.

“Kristen O’Grady of Venice knew there was something she could do,” the police department wrote. “The same hard-to-find discontinued blanket had been a friend to hear 4-year-old daughter Regan.”

O’Grady pulled out her daughter's old woobie and delivered it to Cheyanne’s doorstep on Monday “and all was right with the world," the police department wrote.

The turn of events was happy news for Cheyanne’s family, as well. Her father had posted his daughter was devastated by the loss and just couldn’t sleep without the blanket. Her family was so grateful for the replacement, they posted a big thank-you on Facebook to North Port Police and O’Grady.
