Pedestrian Fatally Hit By Truck In Sarasota County

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A Nokomis man is dead after state police said he was fatally hit by a truck while he was jogging.

The collision occurred around 8 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Mission Valley Boulevard and Pinto Circle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Police said the 63-year-old man was running along the westbound travel lane of Pinto Circle, approaching the intersection, when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old Nokomis man.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
