Pickleball Paddles Stolen During Ribbon Cutting For New Courts: Venice Police
A 79-year-old man was caught stealing pickleball paddles during the ribbon-cutting event for new courts, Venice police said.
VENICE, FL — Pickleball paddles were stolen and the culprit caught during Thursday morning’s ribbon cutting for the new Heckscher Park Pickleball Courts, Venice police wrote in a Facebook post.
Multiple players reported their paddles missing from the communal rack as Venice police faced off against the fire department on the court.
The suspect, Salvatore Cracolici, 79, “admitted to being deceptive,” police said.

He was issued a notice to appear for three separate counts of petit theft. He was also trespassed from the park.
“A friendly reminder, don’t get yourself in a pickle! Especially not in front of 20 officers with paddles in hand,” police said.
