Reckless Driver Faces Drug Charges After I-75 Chase: FL Highway Patrol
A reckless driver led deputies, troopers on a chase on I-75 in Sarasota County and was arrested on multiple charges, FHP said.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A reckless driver faces drug-related charges after leading authorities on a chase on Interstate 75 in southern Sarasota County late Wednesday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Troopers helped the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office with an active pursuit of a 2016 BMW driven by a reckless driver and heading south on I-75.
As the driver continued to try to evade law enforcement, they tried to exit onto Laurel Road at Exit 195 while speeding.

He hit the Laurel Road curbed median, which disabled the car, causing it to come to a stop on the return ramp to I-75, FHP said.
The driver, Derrick Jerome Truttling, 30, of Fort Myers was arrested and charged with:- driving on a suspended license
- fleeing and eluding
- possession of cocaine (3 grams)
- possession of marijuana (304 grams of edibles and 59 grams of marijuana)
- felony warrant
He was booked into the Sarasota County Jail.
