Rip Current, Choppy Seas in Hazardous Weather Forecast

Gusting winds are behind a cold front sweeping the region today.

Strong and gusting northwest winds are blowing palm trees in the Sunshine State today. It's defintiely not shorts and flip-flop weather.

Boaters and beach goers also are being warned of the rough conditions along the coast. There's a moderate risk of rip currents, according to the National Weather Service.

The high winds are blowing behind a cold front that is sweeping across the Tampa Bay region today, from Sarasota to Tarpon Springs.

Along the beaches, the high-wind impact is creating choppy seas. The winds will not decrease until tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
