SARASOTA, FL — A campus security monitor at Riverview High School has been fired over an altercation with a student, according to a spokesperson for Sarasota County Schools.
Kenneth Howard was initially placed on administrative leave following Thursday's incident.
“It is never easy to dismiss a staff member who is liked by their peers,” said Superintendent Todd Bowden. “In the case of Mr. Howard, his behavior and actions were terribly inappropriate and not at all aligned with the responsibilities of a district employee."
