Robber Rips Necklace Off Senior Citizen’s Neck

Woman was riding her bike when a man approached her and ripped the necklace off of her.

A 75-year-old woman riding her bike on North Lockwood Ridge Road had a gold necklace ripped off his neck during a strong-arm robbery Monday afternoon.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office responded to Parkway Collections at 6030 N. Lockwood Ridge Road at 2:15 p.m. Monday where a 75-year-old Sigrid Schmidt told deputies that a suspect approached her in the parking lot of Parkway Collections and ripped an 18-inch, 14 karat gold necklace from her neck, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Schmidt received minor injuries from the robbery that did not require medical attention, according to the report.

Schmidt described the suspect as a black male in his thirties approximately 6 feet, 2 inches tall and wearing a blue T-shirt. The suspect was last seen riding a bike southbound on Lockwood Ridge Road from Parkway Collections.
