Then on Labor Day, the Unity Games will go on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring volleyball, family kickball, carnival and bounce games, children's crafts, free food and more.
2. s renovation is coming along and soon the grounds be spruced up. Turner Tree and Landscape is doing $350,000 worth of landscaping at the school starting this week, including 77 palms reaching 18 feet in height, 46 oaks, 29 cypress, elms, maples and crape myrtles as well as more than 2,700 one-gallon plants. Oh, and you can forget the grass. About 858,000 square feet of new grass, complete with irrigation, will be planted, too.

3. Congratulations to the TV crew at the City of Sarasota for receiving a prestigious bronze Telly award. The award was received for the production of a new television program, City Business, which features businesses within the city limits. The program runs on Access Sarasota, the government access television station and also is posted on www.SarasotaGov.com. The Telly Awards honor outstanding television, video and film productions.
The episode honored features two local businesses: , videotaped and edited by Miles Larsen and The Trailer Guy, videotaped and edited by John Nopper. "We're proud to have received this award,” said Miles Larsen, Public Broadcasting Manager. “But, we're even prouder that we've been able to help the local economy by highlighting our local businesses within the City of Sarasota.” The program was entered in the category “Internet/Online Programs”. 5. The 66th Annual Labor Day Regatta continues today. More than 300 sailors from the United States and Canada will compete in events from Friday through Sunday. It costs nothing to watch the boats, but if you're in the racing spirit, it costs $75 to $100 to register. You'll want to grab a spot near the Sailing Squadron, 1717 Ken Thompson Parkway, to catch all the action.
